i am pretty sure the last mark 8 was 1997. are you sure you aren't thinking of something else? the 97 is flawless other than the fact the air suspension dies around 90,000 miles.

The refreshed Mark VIII and the last generation Acura Legend are two great examples of cars that still look good today. (although you see less and less of them)

No, only Mark VII and Mark VIII Air suspension was bad... the air suspension used on Crown Vic/Grand Marquis was superb and lasted 200-300K miles....

I always like the Lincolns interiors.they always seemed to "out-do" Cadillac on the inside of their cabin.the horrible air-suspension can be replaced with a set of coil springs.the "intech V8" is'nt as powerful as the NORTHSTAR,but it's an easy engine to mod up,considering its big brother the Cobra shares all the hop-up parts with it.

I owned both a 94 and a 98 Mark VIII LSC. The 94's reliability was okay. The 98! Oh my GOOOOOD! That car was in the shop ever 3 months with yet another emergency $1000 repair. I lost my virginity on the hood of a 1985 Ford Thunderbird, but the troubles I went through with that 98 Mark, and the unapologenic attitude that Ford gave me when I was fixing many of the same parts for the second time in 100K was enough! Never buying another for as long as I live.

I owned 2 Marks a 94 and a 98. The 94 was an okay car. The 98 red, LSC was the biggest piece of junk I ever owned next to a 10 year old Mercedes Benz 560 SEC. That car was in the shop every 3 months for yet another $1000 repair. Many items were replaced twice in the 100k I drove the car.

Awsome post as much as you can. If you can't work on your own car you shouldn't have it.

Oh and I should add that the air suspension going out on you is the most COMMON and guaranteed problem you'll have. Air suspension is a horribly unreliable idea... |
