Correct, the '68 model was supposed to be loaded with the Ford-385 460 cid engine, but that was postponed until all 462 cid MEL-engines were used.

Thanks for your advice on my black Continental. The clunk was the u-joint in the shaft, I had it replaced immediately. And the mufflers were fixed. I'm driving the car in The Netherlands today. Thanks again. Roelstra
