No, not really. Sometimes, if you have your sub completely open, then the bass might get somewhat louder than the midrange tones. But if you listen normal music, it produces good sound on all ranges

well i bought them, and i was extremely disappointed. my old setup was 1000 times stronger and louder. i guess my expectations were too high. however, when i connected my old setup in a more sealed room with carpet the bass was so loud i thought the windows were going to shatter. thank god i got a refund.

Is it true that these speakers are lacking in midrange?

Well, I had a less-powerfull setup before I bought myself a Z2300. I also had that problem .sub was only 30 Watt Rms, quite smaal ... so, couldn't fill the room withe bass like this 2.1 does. 120 Watt Rms shows in quite huge spread of bass in the room.
It is firstly the Wattage of the sub you bought that will determine your sound. So, you will still have this effect, because the sound waves can develop best towards a larger distance (in this case: other corner of the room)

having bare tile will redirect the sound at angles, so yes, it might. try facing the actual subwoofer speaker toward the wall, or by a down-firing sub
